Building Financial Confidence Through Education
Since 2019, we've been teaching people in Belgium how to think about money differently. Not through get-rich promises or complicated jargon, but through practical education that actually makes sense.
Most of us never learned proper financial skills in school. We started Youelim because we noticed a gap between what people needed to know about budgeting and investing, and what was actually being taught in accessible ways.
Teaching Real Skills, Not Quick Fixes
We're not here to sell you miracle solutions or promise overnight wealth. Financial literacy takes time, and that's okay. What matters is building a foundation that works for your actual life and circumstances.
Our programs focus on budget management and investment basics because those are the two areas where people tend to struggle most. And honestly, they're connected. You can't build a solid investment strategy without understanding how money flows through your life first.
- Clear explanations without unnecessary complexity
- Real examples from Belgian financial contexts
- Practical tools you can use immediately
- Ongoing support as you develop new habits
- Honest discussions about risks and realistic outcomes

Who's Teaching You
We're a small team based in Verviers, and between us, we've spent years working in financial services, education, and consulting across Belgium. What brings us together is a shared frustration with how financial education typically gets delivered.
Lode Verstraete
Budget Planning Instructor
Spent twelve years as a financial advisor before switching to education. Believes most budget advice overcomplicated simple concepts, so he rebuilt the curriculum from scratch.
Saskia Desmet
Investment Fundamentals Lead
Former portfolio analyst who got tired of explaining the same misconceptions. Now focuses on teaching investment basics without the industry jargon that confuses most beginners.
How Our Programs Actually Work
We structure everything around three phases because that's what works when you're building new financial habits. Rush the process and nothing sticks. Take it step by step, and you end up with skills that become second nature over time.
Foundation Building
We start with how money actually moves through your life. Track it, understand it, see where it goes before trying to change anything.
Strategy Development
Then we build systems that match your situation. Not generic templates, but frameworks you can adjust based on what you're dealing with.
Ongoing Refinement
Life changes, so your approach needs to adapt. We teach you how to adjust your strategies when circumstances shift.
