Budget Investing Fundamentals

Learn how to build real wealth starting with what you have. Our program covers practical strategies for Belgian residents who want to grow their savings without taking unnecessary risks.

12 Weeks
Sept 2025 Start Date
24 Class Size

Designed for People Who Actually Work for Their Money

Most investing courses assume you've got thousands sitting around. We don't. This program starts with the reality that you're probably living paycheck to paycheck, maybe with a small emergency fund if you're lucky.

What you'll get is a step-by-step approach to investing small amounts consistently. We focus on Belgian tax advantages, local brokerage options, and strategies that work when you're starting with €50 a month instead of €5,000.

By the end, you'll understand index funds, diversification, and compound interest in ways that actually apply to your situation. No fancy jargon, no assumptions about your starting point.

What You'll Actually Learn

Twelve weeks of practical lessons, each building on the last. You'll finish with knowledge you can use immediately and confidence you can keep building on.

Weeks 1-3: Money Psychology

3 weeks

Before you invest anything, you need to understand your relationship with money. We cover budgeting basics, identifying spending patterns, and creating a realistic savings plan that doesn't require you to eat rice for every meal.

Weeks 4-6: Investment Fundamentals

3 weeks

Stocks, bonds, ETFs, index funds. What they actually are and how they work. We explain the Belgian brokerage landscape, tax implications specific to Belgium, and how to open your first investment account without getting overwhelmed by options.

Weeks 7-9: Building Your Portfolio

3 weeks

Asset allocation, diversification, and risk tolerance. You'll create your first portfolio based on your actual financial situation. We analyze different strategies for small investors and discuss how to adjust as your income changes.

Weeks 10-12: Long-Term Strategy

3 weeks

Market volatility, rebalancing, and staying the course during downturns. We talk about real scenarios: what to do when markets crash, how to avoid panic selling, and when it makes sense to adjust your strategy versus when you should just keep going.

Meet Gerben Verhaegen

Gerben started investing with €75 a month back in 2013 when he was working retail in Liège. Twelve years later, he's built a portfolio that generates meaningful passive income while still working his day job.

He's not a millionaire and he won't promise you'll become one either. But he knows what it's like to start small, make mistakes, and learn from them. He's taught over 300 people in Belgium how to get started with investing, focusing on folks who don't have financial backgrounds.

Thijs Lenaerts, program graduate Liesbeth Debruyne, program graduate

I took the course in autumn 2024 with basically zero knowledge about investing. Gerben explained everything in plain language and never made me feel stupid for asking basic questions. Six months later, I've got a diversified portfolio and actually understand what I'm doing with my money.
